Can tucker clay be drilled in to?

I'm making my mom a pot for christmas so she can grow christmas cacti in the house. The clay our school provides is clay called Tucker, I need to make a hole for drainage. Is there any way I can make a hole in it with out destroying the whole thing? Let me know! Thank You!
